Anon, I think you convince me. I had gone with BellSouth as the Snake--with all the connotations of betrayal and sleaziness that attach. And with Cox as the fat, monster complacently gnawing on the innocent lamb. But I think I am won over by the "cock" and the image of the old and sluggish but still powerful dragon.
