Nifty idea from fellow fiber city Chattanooga:
install a wireless network with your actively managed LED street light upgrade. Save money on lighting by using cheaper, longer-lasting lighting and by using the dimming function dynamically to save an extra fraction. Plus you can use it to piggy-back a wireless network for more general use if you want. Why not?

Once you've got the basic infrastructure in and under your control you can do some amazing things on top of it.
